The type of personal information we collect  

The types of personal data we collect when you use our mobile application will depend on the purpose for which we will use the personal data. Within the mobile application, we collect and process the following information: 

  • First name 

  • Surname 

  • Email address  

  • Phone number 

  • Group Memberships  

  • Survey responses  

  • Mentoring information 

  • Gender 

  • Education and qualifications information 

  • Work Experience 

  • Your feedback, and malpractice information 

  • Information within user CV’s where uploaded.   

We will only collect this data for clear and specific purposes which we set out below. 

How we get the personal information and why we have it 

Most of the personal information we process via your use of the mobile application is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons: 

  • To engage with the mobile application and use its features.  

  • To facilitate access to the Job Boards and access to employers 

  • To facilitate access to our CPD portal 

When you use the mobile application, we also collect analytical data and usage statistics including:

  • Device information (what device accessed the application). 

  • Browser information (if you use areas of the application that open a new browser window. 

  • Engagement score data 

  • Message board analytics.  
      

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), when we use personal data, we need a lawful basis to do so. For the context of this Privacy Policy, the lawful bases we rely on for processing of your personal data are:  

Article 6(1)(b) the processing is necessary for the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party. 

Article 6(1)(f) the processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party.  

In respect of our Legitimate Interest these are:’ 

  • To understand who is using our application 

  • To ensure that our application remains secure 

  • To ensure that we can share information with relevant third parties  

  • To ensure that users of our application comply with our terms and conditions.  

  • To be able to effectively communicate with application users and understand and improve their experience.  

For the processing of your special category data, we rely on the lawful basis of the processing being necessary for the purposes of meeting our obligations under employment, social security or social protection law. 

How we store your personal information  

All personal data stored in our systems is subject to a range of controls to maintain the security and confidentiality of your personal data. Our controls include:

  • Access controls to restrict who can access your data

How long we keep your personal data will depend on: 

  • The purpose for which it was collected Whether we have a legal obligation to retain the data. We will keep your data only for as long as it necessary to meet one of the above requirements. We will keep the data we hold about you under regular review. When we no longer need to retain your data, it will be securely deleted.

Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances. 

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

Child Safety Standards 

Any explicit content or child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) is strongly prohibited on our application. 

Compliance with Child Safety laws & reporting 

Our app complies with applicable child safety laws and regulations. 

Our app ensures all content shared within the app is appropriate for a mixed audience, including children. User-generated content is moderated to prevent inappropriate material from being accessible.

Any CSAM (Child Safety Abuse Material) content will be automatically removed when flagged or reported through our moderation features or if we are directly contacted for this purpose. 

We will systematically take action to report confirmed CSAM content to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
CSAM consists of any visual depiction, including but not limited to photos, videos and computer-generated imagery, involving the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
